Dressage Coaching & Judging Insight

Dressage Coaching & Judging Insight

for Riders Who Want to Score Higher
Private coaching, judge‑level feedback and competition‑ready preparation across Essex, Suffolk, Norfolk and online, from a BD, Freestyle and BRC judge.

Private Coaching That Judges Notice

One‑to‑one dressage coaching focused on the marks that matter, so every session translates into higher scores in the arena.

Built Around You and Your Horse

Each lesson is tailored to the way you and your horse learn, combining technical schooling with clear, simple take‑home exercises.

From First Test to Medium and Beyond

Whether you are riding your first Intro or chasing PBs at Medium, we build a step‑by‑step plan that fits your level and ambition.

Confidence Without Losing Precision

We balance confidence‑building with accuracy, so you feel braver in the ring without sacrificing the detail judges want to see.

Every rider and horse learns differently, so each private session is built around the way you ride, think and process feedback. Sessions focus on the details judges actually reward: balance, rhythm, straightness, clear transitions and ring‑craft.

Whether you are stepping up a level or chasing marginal gains at Medium and above, we’ll work systematically through movements, test questions and mental skills so you leave each lesson with clear homework and measurable progress.

I'm Paul Cornish

A dedicated dressage coach, BD List 4 & Freestyle Judge, and lifelong rider passionate about helping others grow in skill, confidence, and connection with their horses.

With over a decade of experience coaching riders across all levels, I’ve made it my mission to deliver training that’s clear, structured, and built around long-term progress – for both horse and rider.

Coaching Philosophy

Clarity, consistency, Confidence

Every lesson I teach is grounded in three core principles:

Clarity

Riders must understand why they're doing each exercise. My sessions are structured, not random.

Consistency

Horses thrive on rhythm and routine. I help riders build this through repeatable systems.

Confidence

Whether you're aiming for Prelim or Prix St. Georges, I’ll support your mindset as much as your mechanics.

I don’t teach from ego. I teach from experience — as a rider, as a judge, and as someone who wants you to succeed without compromising your partnership with your horse.

What we work on

Tell me about you and your horse – I’ll reply with dates, location options and a suggested plan for your goals.
  • Test accuracy and lines that are easy to ride under pressure

  • Improved connection, suppleness and self‑carriage for higher collectives

  • Transitions that are prompt, soft and reliably repeatable

  • Rider position, feel and timing so your aids are invisible to the judge

  • Tailored schooling plans between lessons to keep you progressing

How We'll Train Together

I work with riders in two ways:

In-Person Coaching

Available across Essex, Suffolk, and East Anglia, I offer private lessons, group clinics, and show-day coaching.
Whether you’re developing your foundation or polishing your freestyle, I come to you – or we meet at one of the venues I regularly work with.

Online Coaching

Through video analysis and personalised plans, I’ve helped riders across the UK and beyond. You’ll send footage, receive movement-by-movement feedback, and gain access to long-term support that’s affordable, flexible, and effective.

Structured coaching. Clear results.

Let's Talk About Your Riding Goals

Whether you’re preparing for your first test, aiming to improve your scores, or want to finally understand what judges are really looking for – I’d love to help.
